Was bedeutet der Begriff "Detention (container)"?
« Zurück zum IndexDetention is a charge levied by the shipping line for keeping a container outside the terminal for too long: it applies when the consignee holds the collected container beyond the agreed free time before returning it empty. It is distinct from demurrage, the charge for containers that stay too long inside the terminal or port. Both can be avoided by prompt handling.
