The EUR.1 movement certificate is a preferential proof of origin: on export to countries with a preferential agreement with the EU, it documents the preferential origin of the goods and enables the importer to obtain a duty reduction or exemption. The EUR.1 is applied for by the exporter and confirmed by customs. For a goods value up to €6,000, an origin declaration on the invoice usually suffices. Not to be confused with the certificate of origin, which proves non-preferential origin.
